Today is the final installment of the 7-Day Reset series. I hope that you had an amazing journey this past week. Today’s topic is rest.
So often, schedules, plans, and itineraries fill our days. Seldom do we take time to simply enjoy the day. We are either consumed with trying to recreate yesterday or attempting to construct the future. As a result of our failure to be present, we frequently miss out on the beauty of the moment.
A well-lived life is not defined by mere existence. It is established through memories and experiences. As humans, our ability to appreciate the world around us is one of the things that differentiates us from other living species. Therefore, when we do not take the time to simply exhale, we miss out on the Earth’s marvels.
Rest rejuvenates both our minds and our bodies. Unwinding enables our minds to recharge and allows us to have a clear perspective. Furthermore, decompressing and taking a physical break allow our bodies to recuperate and repair from their daily toils. When we fail to rest, we do ourselves a great disservice.
On the final day of this challenge, I implore you to schedule some time for adequate rest. Ensure that you are getting sufficient sleep. Additionally, carve out some time for a mental detox as well. Mental rest is equally as important as physical rejuvenation. Make sure to do both.
1Unless the Lord builds the house,
the builders labor in vain.
Unless the Lord watches over the city,
the guards stand watch in vain.
2 In vain you rise early
and stay up late,
toiling for food to eat—
for he grants sleep to those he loves (Psalm 127:1-2, New International Bible, 1978/2011).
